Tips For Men To Look Younger
We all know there is not just one magic key to looking years younger than your actual age. (If there were, we’d already all be doing it, wouldn’t we?) But the key to looking younger is instead a small combination of things, perhaps even just 2 or 3 little tweaks, that can make a really significant difference in your appearance and therefore your perceived age. So rather than resorting to one drastic measure, such as receiving Botox injections in your forehead, instead try a couple of the following easier and less expensive solutions.
You should wear sunscreen on your face regularly, not just when you go to the beach or work outside. This is key for 2 reasons: first, sunscreen provides moisture, which is absolutely critical in order to keep your skin from looking dull and lackluster. Secondly, sunscreen protects your skin from age spots and wrinkles. You can find plenty of brands that are oil free and scent free, so you don’t have to worry about slathering something that smells like coconut on your face. Look for a sunscreen that is at least SPF 15, preferably a SPF 30, with both UVA and UVB protection. Start putting it on your face and neck every morning. If you are going to be outside or if you drive a lot, put it on your arms too.
99% of the time, facial hair is aging. This is primarily because we simply associate facial hair with age. But it is also because even before you start to see gray hair on your head, you will begin to see gray hair on your face. If you have a full beard, cut it down to (at the most) a trim goatee and mustache. If you have a goatee, go clean-shaven. This is likely to take years off of your appearance. Don’t forget that nose and ear hair count as facial hair too. You should always groom your eyebrows, nose, and ear hair.
Dress your age:
A lot of men (and women) think that if they dress youthfully, it will make them appear young. For example, men who are over 40 often think that dressing in baggy chinos, a name brand tee shirt, and sneakers makes them appear young. The truth is that men who dress this way only appear as though they aretrying to look young, and there is a crucial difference. You should therefore always make sure to dress in a way that is appropriate for your age. This does not mean, however, that your wardrobe needs to be boring. Try textured or patterned sport coats for interest. Reach for polo shirts in bright colors like purple and orange rather than basic black and white. (Wearing color is also a great way to appear younger.) Assemble an interesting collection of necktie accessories, pocket squares, and cuff links. These are all ways to look stylish and appropriate without appearing like you wish you were a teenager.
Upgrade your glasses:
The wrong glasses can instantly age your face. If you feel clueless about whether your glasses frames are “right” or “wrong” for you, look through some men’s fashion magazines to see what types of glasses frames are now stylish and popular. Or, bring an honest friend with you to help you pick out some new frames. If you always wear glasses, you can also consider switching to contact lenses for a more dramatic change.
Whiten your teeth:
Tooth stains are instantly aging, and if you are a soda or coffee drinker, you are definitely prone to them. For an easy fix, purchase a box of over the counter tooth whitening strips. Or, talk to your dentist about an in-office whitening process. A whiter smile instantly takes years off of your face.
